You only turn 29 once!

October 22 (should have been a national holiday!) was my birthday. I look forward to this day 364 days a year. Just ask my mom - I'm 29 years old and she STILL gets a birthday countdown! Friday night we went went with some good friends, Ryan and Cathy Smith, to the Alpha Delta Pi Auction/Casino Night at III Forks in Dallas. WAY fun night and for a great cause! Plus it gave me a reason to dress up, and we all know I love that (shout out to Shelby for letting me borrow her dress). The night was flowing with wine and appetizers while bidding on silent auction items. Josh and I actually got a few things we really wanted -that never happens for me!

Since I was off work for the weekend (usually never happens unless I have something planned!) we headed downtown to the final weekend of the world famous State Fair of Texas! Going on a Saturday - awful idea! Trying all the fun fried food - Great idea! We tried the El Bananarito (banana wrapped in a tortilla then fried and covered with whipped cream and chocolate syrup), Fried Moonpie, Fried Butter (my fav! it's like a roll with the butter melted on the inside! see below for picture), Buffalo Chicken Flapjack (buffalo chicken strip wrapped in pancake batter fried and served with maple syrup), Fried Grilled Cheese, and of course the state fair "must have" a Fletcher's corn dog! Aside from all the strollers and aimlessly wondering people we had a great time! We even got to see a baby kangaroo hanging out in his mommy's pouch! Lots of fun animals in the petting zoo!

Since the fair wasn't "celebration" enough we went to dinner at one of our favorite hang outs, II Brothers Bar and Grill in Plano with mom and had friends meet us there later to watch the Rangers in the World Series! The outcome of the game was not pretty but luckily Tech played a great game against OU and won!! We had a great time with friends watching sports and having drinks (thank you mom for the pitchers!)

Sunday morning Josh and I were able to relax a little since Saturday was non stop on the go before heading to my mom's house for a family birthday celebration. We had family from all over come! Cousins from Fort Worth, cousins from Whichita Falls, and mom's cousin from Chicago, and of course my bonus family (Josh's fam) from Fort Worth. There was a housefull but it was fun to have everyone in one place and watch all the kids running around - they all got along great! Thank you to all involved in making my birthday weekend special!

Special shout out to the girls at work for continuing the celebration Monday morning with a fun card, flowers, and 2 cakes!! Brooke - your cupcakes turned out super cute!!
XOXO, J & K
